REPORT OF FPCON – 2012 – ANOTHER
SUCCESSFUL CONFERENCE
On 21st January, there was pre-conference CME from 2 PM to 5 PM. Dinner was arranged at ‘Raj Bhog’ for outstation delegates and musical evening was arranged at night. Delegates from Surat and other cities enjoyed it. In this program, felicitation of the organizing committee was also done. It was conducted by our vice president of FPA Surat, Dr. Madhusudan Umarji.
On 22nd January, full day conference was held. More than 400 delegates participated in the conference from various cities of Gujarat, mainly from Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Anand, Vadodara, Bardoli, Valsad and Chikhali.
Inauguration ceremony was held on 22nd January at 9.30 AM. Mr. Bhimjibhai Patel, standing committee chairman was the chief guest and Mr. Irfan Furniturewala was distinguished guest. Chairman Dr. Bhupesh Chavada and Dr. Jagdish Jariwala gave their welcome speech. Dr. Pragnesh Vachharajani, state secretary, GSFPF, Dr. K. N. Sheladia and Dr. Ashok D. Patel, organizing secretary of FPCON gave report of association respectively. Whole program was conducted nicely by Dr. Vinod C. Shah.
During whole day, scientific lectures on various interesting topics were given by faculties from Surat and Ahmedabad.
Our own members Dr. Pragnesh Vachharajani, Dr. Jayendra Kapadia, Dr. Bhupesh Chavada, Dr. Yatish Lapsiwala and Dr. Madhusudan Umarji also presented their scientific papers in the conference and they were well appreciated.
This time we have arranged program for spouses also. Mrs. Amita V. Shah and Dr. Nita Rana took lead in this program. Sari shopping, Surat Darshan and musical quiz on Dev Anand were arranged, which were conducted by Mr. Naresh Kapadia and Mrs. Pragna Vashi. Everyone appreciated the program.
There were about 24 stalls in the exhibition of
various pharmaceutical, surgical and other companies.
All the delegates dispersed with sweet memories
of this successful conference and everyone praised the efforts of the
organizing committee.
FPA Surat is very much thankful to GSFPF chairman
and honorary secretary to extend their support to allow us to host this
conference. By hard work of all the committee members and meticulous guidance
of senior members of our association, we could do this and succeeded in
organizing the conference - the Herculean task. No words can express, describe
or explain our gratitude towards them.

Clinical Cardiology Workshop (CCW-2008) Report
Dear Friends
In association
with Apollo hospitals and Cardio Vascular Health Foundation (CVHF-a
group leading cardiologist of Gujarat), a Clinical
Cardiology Workshop (CCW) was organized on 18th May,
Sunday, 2008, at Apollo Hospital International Ltd., Ahmedabad.
In a short span of about 40 days this workshop was
organized. With the enthusiastic and overwhelming support from all the branches
of GSFPF, its first maiden conference was a huge success. We have received
registration of 400 delegates and 140 accompanying persons.
Because of logistics problems like hall capacity, etc., we were forced to close
the registrations, one week before. Really a dream comes true for any organizer.
Seeing the response, we could have easily registered 600 delegates if we had
wanted, as most delegates have a tendency to register late.
On the day of workshop, from early in the morning,
delegates started coming to the venue, not only from Ahmedabad but from all
corners of Gujarat also. By about 9.30 almost
all the delegates had arrived via specially arranged buses and taxis. After
having good breakfast the delegates took their seat in the auditorium in a much
disciplined manner and programme started well on time with two dynamic
masters of ceremony, Dr.Jaswant Darbar and Dr.Mehul Shelat. Then in
a brief welcome ceremony, the Organizing Secretary, Dr. Pragnesh
Vachharajani, and President of GSFPF, Dr. J. V. Shah, expressed
their gratitude towards delegates and welcomed them. Dr. Sapan Pandya, Organizing
Secretary, CCW-2008 in his vote of thanks, thanked all the delegates on
behalf of organizing committee of CCW-2008.
On the other hand the accompanying persons, after
having breakfast were taken to see a movie “Bhoothnath” in near by newly
inaugurated multiplex by specially arranged buses.
During the day with light moments like jokes of “Santa
& Banta” scientific feast was served by learned speakers like, Dr. Samir
Dani, Dr. Kamal Sharma, Dr. Jayesh Prajapati, Dr. Subir Ghosh, Dr. Sharad Jain,
Dr. Rashmit Pandya, all well known names in the field of cardiology in
Gujarat.
At lunch time delicious lunch was served, because of
large number of people in small area, there were some difficulties but the patience
and discipline of the delegates were commendable. Because of that post
lunch secession was started on time with a nice quiz, which was handled by
Dr. Abhay Dixit (Organizing Chairman, CCW-2008) with help of Dr. Kamal
Sharma, who has prepared the questionnaire.
In meantime, the accompanying persons of the delegates,
after having delicious lunch at a separately arranged place for them, were
taken to visit the hospital and then they had a chance to discuss common
problems pertaining to them with Gynecologist, Pediatrician and a Dietician.
In the late afternoon, at the end of scientific
secession, a panel discussion was held, which was flooded with questions by
delegates to satisfy their thirst for knowledge.
After the much awaited moments arrived, the Chief Guest
of the function, Shri Jaynarayan Vyas (Honorable Minister of Health & Family Welfare-Gujarat State)
arrived. The office bearers of GSFPF had a brief meeting with him, and he was
informed about GSFPF and future plans etc. In the valedictory function on
behalf of Apollo Hospitals, CEO Dr. Praful Pawar, delivered a talk and GSFPF
President, Dr. J. V. Shah, welcome the chief guest .In his speech the chief
guest appreciated the effort by organizing team of CCW-2008 and GSFPF to
organize such and event for their members. He emphasizes the need for such
workshops and said it is absolutely necessary for keeping updated. He told
the delegates that a family physician for patients was like a family member. He
then shared his ideas on the current health scenario and role of a family
physician in it. All the delegates really appreciated the interest and
knowledge regarding medical science of the health minister.
Though it was late in evening, all the delegates remained
present till the last minute. After having high-tea, the delegates left for
their homes with satisfaction in their heart and stomach.
All above this and more has become possible only with
most efficient back office management and other administrative skills of our treasurer Dr.Ashvin Shah, and continuous
guidance and efforts from Dr.Amit Shah

In all the conference was a grand success and the
temperament and discipline of delegates through the day was highly appreciable.
In the end the organizing team is highly thankful to all
the branches of GSFPF, and office bearers of GSFPF for their support and
encouragement.
